I think everyone can agree, if you are currently living with a significant other or roommate (you get along with) you never really like when they have to go away. You miss the company, their presence in the home, all the fun stuff that comes along with sharing a house together, however what comes with living with people are the courtesies you must have. You have to be considerate and respectful of your fellow dweller. You have to know that taking the last piece of toast without asking is going to affect someone. Not refilling the toilet paper is going to leave someone stranded on the toilet.
NOW this is why I love when they go away on business trips ...
It is not too bad because it is only a day or so the one you love, live with, share housing with is gone- but in this day you can do whatever you want that you would not normally do. Leave your wet robe on the bed, have your dishes wherever you ate last, not having to clean the coffee pot right after you are done, listening to the same song over and over again and thinking you sing it better, keeping the bed a mess, and so many more fun things. Now I do not want to sound like I live with a tyrant, I do not and half the things I listed are my own pet peeves. But knowing that no one is going to be affected by this reckless behavior for a day or two --- I feel so rebellious. Well yes I will keep my clothes on the floor and walk away. I will keep the television on in one room and turn the other television on in the other. That is your shirt, but today it will be mine. I will drink the last diet coke and not replace it. Just for one day, you have to love it. You should only be this reckless for a day or else you will develop bad habits. So this is my positive spin on business trips. (only for a day)
